Rowan's Law

Aspects of Rowan’s Law (Concussion Safety), 2018 and Ontario Regulation 161/19 (the regulations that support Rowan’s Law) came into effect on July 1, 2019. Additional aspects will come into effect on July 1, 2020.

The immediate impact on Skate Ontario and our member clubs and schools is the requirement under this law to ensure that all skaters under the age of 26, parents (if the skater is under the age of 18 years), coaches, officials and other designated persons have confirmed they have reviewed the required Concussion Awareness Resources and Concussion Codes of Conduct before becoming registered for the ensuing season.

The resource material that must be reviewed by all skaters and parents (if applicable) as required by Rowan’s Law can be found here. All questions regarding Rowan’s Law compliance should be directed to Derek Ventnor, dventnor@skateontario.org.

Please review, print and sign the Rowan’s Law Acknowledgement Form and bring it to the Club Office on or before your skater’s next skating session or at the very latest Tuesday, October 1, 2019.

You can give the completed form to a Woodbridge Figure Skating Club coach or drop it off at the office.

Please note: Your skater(s) will not be permitted on the ice if the form is not completed and handed in to the skating club on or before Tuesday, October 1, 2019 as per Skate Ontario requirements.
